The State of Hawai'i has released a new website to inform the public on renewable energy. The site allows the public to keep track of Hawaii's Clean Energy Initiative, including its status and its progress! You can view the site at: hawaiicleanenergyinitiative.org. The Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative aims to transform Hawai‘i into a world model for energy independence and sustainability. The goal is to meet 70% of Hawai‘i's energy needs with clean energy by 2030.
On June 25, 2009, the initiative reached an important milestone when Gov. Linda Lingle signed into law four key energy bills that enhance Hawai‘i's energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. See press release for full details.
This site provides for more transparency in our government's direction in renewable clean energy and is a great step in the right direction.
