On August 21, 1959, United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a proclamation admitting Hawaii into the Union of the United States. Much has changed in the islands over the last 50 years! The 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission's official Maui County event will be held on Saturday, August 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. on the A&B Amphitheater Lawn at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Enjoy 50 cents hot dogs, shave ice, beverages, games, community booths, bouncy castles and a walk down memory lane plus a rockin' performance by Jimmy Mac and the Kool Kats. There will be a community banner to sign and share your personal mana`o (thoughts/ideas) about 50 years of statehood for Hawai`i.
